Poem: A Fire-shaped Thought

As the blizzard strikes my face

Step by step, walking to

Wherever, alone

The wind whips the snow to a frenzy,

Like the internal

Infernal frenzy

Unlike my own

You’d think the cold, the snow, the wind, the storm

Would be dominant

And you’d be wrong

It is the fire-shaped thought,

That gives me warmth

And keeps me going strong

The snowflakes each show, falling

Something unique

It is the thought of you,

That my mind is calling to

My hands and feet are cold,

But my heart is not

Closer than anything else,

However far you may be

It is the fire-shaped thought

That gives the feeling back to me
